Bol Bol played for the varsity team as a sophomore, eventually leading them to the Kansas Class 4A Division one championship game against McPherson High School in March 2016. He went on to earn first-team honors in class 4A1 and a scholarship offer from Kansas a month later.
Bol Bol’s high school career would continue beyond Bishop Miege. It was revealed in November 2016 that he would be transferring to Mater Dei High School in Santa Ana, California, for his junior year.
His mother encouraged him to transfer in order for him to play for coach Gary McKnight. Bol Bol made his Mater Dei debut on January 24, 2017, scoring 21 points, grabbing 10 rebounds, and blocking three shots in a win over Orange Lutheran High School. Bol Bol averaged 16.5 points, 8.6 rebounds, and 2.9 blocks as a junior for the club. During the season, he got scholarship offers from Arizona, USC, Oregon, Kentucky, and UCLA.
