BTS Contract Renewal and 2025 Comeback Plans in Doubt: Breaking News!
As the seven members of BTS continue to pursue individual projects and fulfill their military service obligations, there is currently no definitive information regarding the future of the K-pop supergroup BTS. BigHit Music, the group’s record label, stated in October when the sabbatical was first officially announced, that BTS would reunite “as a group in 2025.”
This week, however, Bang Si-hyuk, chairman of the label’s parent business HYBE, dispelled expectations that the group would return on that schedule during a press conference.

“We said we ‘hope’ the members can resume in 2025, not ‘will,’” the chairman shared, according to K-Pop Herald. “BTS and the firm will both work for it, but it doesn’t mean we can target then.”
Jin is the only member of BTS to have started the mandatory 21-month military enlistment for men in South Korea. While he’s been keeping fans up-to-date with occasional posts, the rest of the band has been busy with individual projects of their own, including J-Hope, who was previously revealed to have started the enlistment process.

“The enlistment schedules (of each member) are private information, so I cannot speak about it here. But we will disclose the dates in order transparently once their schedules are confirmed,” Si-hyuk shared during the press conference regarding the other members.
While he didn’t have much additional information to share, the chairman also spoke briefly about the septets’ contract renewal, which is also uncertain at the moment. “We still have time left (until the contract ends),” he explained. “We’ll discuss (with the members) within the time, and I believe it will be right for us to speak about it after the discussion ends.”
The vast majority of BTS’s devoted fanbase doesn’t seem to mind the uncertainty and instead chooses to place their faith in the band. On last week’s episode of EFE, RM looked back on BTS‘s history and looked ahead to the group’s bright future. “BTS will succeed,” he said. After we’ve completed our military service, we’ll reunite and try to find ways to work together more effectively as we move into the next stage. Nothing, after all, stands the test of time.
