Fans may dive into the latest entry in the paid Call of Duty series on that day. Warzone 2 may come out on the same day as other games with free-to-play features, but it’s unclear whether the free updates will arrive simultaneously.
In contrast, customers who pre-order Modern Warfare 2 on October 20, 2022, will have access to the campaign a week early.
Additionally, the beta for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 will launch on September 16, 2022.
Story of COD Modern Warfare 2
Activision revealed that Call of Duty 2022 is a sequel to Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4, so we know where the plot may be going.
The game’s setting should be the present day or a time close to it, rather than the far future or a period of military history.
Gameplay characters Alex, Farah, and Nikolai, as well as the non-playable operatives Johnny “Soap” MacTavish and Kyle “Gaz” Garrick, and Simon “Ghost” Riley, were all a part of John Price’s final announcement that he would be forming Task Force 141 in Modern Warfare 2019.
After completing many missions in the old Modern Warfare series (which was restarted by the 2019 title), we may assume that this task force will be teaming up again in the new game. This time, the Col. Alejandro Vargas of the Mexican special forces has joined the squad.
Although, it is unclear who they will be facing off against.
In a Call of Duty blog, the developers teased the tale by saying, “A worldwide squad of famous veterans and fresh legends of yet untold covert missions, these Operators are destined to unleash a new age of Call of Duty when Modern Warfare II arrives on October 28, 2022.”
Modern Warfare 2’s plot has long been speculated to center on the War on Drugs in South America, and this theory is becoming more probable. It is assumed that the game would follow Task Force 141 as they battle terrorist organization Al-Qatala in the Middle East and the drug gang Las Almas, in Mexico.
What Will be the Gameplay of COD Modern Warfare 2?
The Call of Duty game in 2022 will almost certainly be a first-person shooter with a wide variety of online multiplayer options.
This will be the first Call of Duty game built on their new engine; thus, it has the potential to be the best-looking, -playing, and -feeling entry in the series to date.
Additionally, the new engine will improve the visual quality of Warzone, making it seem even better. In the following months, the present version will end, and a new Warzone 2, based on the same engine, will take its place. This new version will likely have many of the same features as the current one, such as a dynamically changing map.
Alterations to artificial intelligence will also likely be welcomed. The crew is fully aware that the computer-controlled enemies in Call of Duty are, shall we say, less than stellar and hopes to rectify the situation in Modern Warfare 2.
We also applaud the decision to include Ricochet, a mechanism designed to prevent players from exploiting bugs in the game’s anti-cheat features, into the game at launch, along with other enhancements to the weapon customization feature, or Gunsmith, as it is called in this context. Any serious gamer will tell you that cheating is one of the worst things you can do in a multiplayer game.
How Will Modern Warfare 2 Influence Warzone?
According to Activision’s Call of Duty blog, “The new game and a new Warzone experience are built from the ground up together,” with Infinity Ward directing the development of both projects.
Fans may anticipate “a tremendous development of Battle Royale with an entirely new playspace and a new sandbox mode.” That seems like a complete reworking of Warzone, the free-to-play shooter initially broken off from Modern Warfare in 2019.
Modern Warfare 2 will instead cross over with the soon-to-be-released Warzone 2.0 since it has been announced that Warzone integration will stop with Vanguard. Warzone 2.0 will incorporate content from Modern Warfare 2, cross-progression, and the same brand-new engine, yet be a different free-to-play game.
What Does this Indicate for Call of Duty in 2023?
While this Modern Warfare sequel is expected to be released in 2022, it seems that you may have to wait longer than average for the next Call of Duty game.
Bloomberg has reported that a scheduled Call of Duty game for 2023 has been moved back to 2024. According to Jason Schreier of Bloomberg, this decision was taken “after a recent installment in the series failed to meet expectations.”
This decision was supposedly “unrelated” to Microsoft’s recent acquisition of Activision, despite widespread speculation that Microsoft’s acquisition of Activision may force the Call of Duty series to depart from its regular annual release schedule.
Citing its sources, Bloomberg’s article also said, “Next year, Activision is working on other projects to fill the void. The next Call of Duty game will get a regular stream of downloadable content updates, and a new free-to-play online game will be released in 2019.”
This makes it seem as though the 2022 Call of Duty game (the Modern Warfare sequel) would have a longer shelf life than average to fill the void created by the postponement of its successor. Then, it may acquire an extensive post-launch content pipeline, but only time will tell whether all these stories and rumors are true.
