Albarn began his musical career by enrolling in a part-time music class at London’s Goldsmiths College in 1988. He was in a band called Circus at the time, with drummer Dave Rowntree and, of course, his best friend guitarist Graham Coxon.

The Blur released another single, There’s No Other Way, which became a hit and peaked at number eight on the charts. Leisure, the band’s debut album, was released in 1991 and received mixed reviews, peaking at number seven on the UK Albums Chart.
Blur toured America in 1992 in an attempt to recoup their losses after discovering they were £60,000 in debt. Stephen Street left the group shortly after the producer.
