Tragic Hit-and-Run Ki!!ed Young Massachusetts Man on Myrtle Beach During College Baseball Trip
A young man from Massachusetts was murder*d in a hit-and-run @ccident in Myrtle Beach. Officials in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, have confirmed that a young man from Massachusetts was ki!!ed over the weekend by a hit-and-run driver while on a collegiate baseball vacation there.
According to the Myrtle Beach Police Department, 21-year-old Jackson Yelle from North Eastham was discovered unresponsive near 21st Avenue North and the Highway 17 Bypass at around 7:30 a.m. on Sunday.
According to the investigation, Yelle was hit by 45-year-old Jason Todd Sauro, also of Myrtle Beach, when he crossed the bypass around six hours earlier. An officer from Horry County located Yelle and reported her to authorities in Myrtle Beach.
After some time, police located and arrested Sauro on multiple counts related to Yelle’s ki!!ing, including hit-and-run. According to school officials, Yelle was an Elon Club Baseball Team member and a junior at Elon University in North Carolina.

On Monday, a large gathering of university community members convened at the Numen Lumen Pavilion to pay tribute to Yelle, whose impact had touched the lives of hundreds. His warm personality and compassion marked Yelle’s legacy, as several individuals shared stories of his thoughtful gestures, such as regularly checking in on their well-being and making them feel at home.
Elon University has issued a statement stating that:
“Well-known for building connections across campus, one friend said Yelle could find the positive aspects of anything. He was known for always wanting to be around other people and welcoming new friends to his growing group of connections. He loved to play poker, meet new people, belt out the occasional song, and most of all, spend time with his friends.”
According to a recent Facebook post by club officials, Yelle has been identified as a past Cape Riptide Travel Team Baseball Program member. A tragic incident occurred during a trip with his Elon baseball teammates, resulting in his untimely de@th.

“The Cape Cod Baseball Club and the Riptide program are devastated to hear the loss of this fine young man, tragically ki!!ed in a hit-and-run @ccident while traveling with his Club baseball team from Elon University to Myrtle Beach. He was the type of player that every coach dreams of having. He was the guy I went to to get a pulse on our direction.”

The Cape Cod Baseball Club has announced that Yelle will be remembered as a brilliant and athletically gifted performer for eternity. “Our hearts, thoughts, and prayers go out to the entire Yelle family as they mourn the loss of their son,” the Club added.
Sauro faced a bond hearing on Monday in South Carolina. An investigation remains ongoing.
