Jimmy Kimmel Then And Now?

Jimmy Kimmel was born in Brooklyn and raised there until he was 9 years old, when his family relocated to Las Vegas. Following his first year at UNLV, he decided to pursue his education at Arizona State instead. Although Kimmel did not graduate from college, it was there that he began his career in radio.

Following his success on the radio, Kimmel made the transition to television in 1997, co-hosting the hit game show Win Ben Stein’s Money on Comedy Central with Stein. The show and its hosts won the 1999 Emmy for Best Game Show.

After working alongside Adam Corrolla for four years on The Man Show, Kimmel launched his own late-night talk show, Jimmy Kimmel Live!, in 2003. Kimmel’s life may be full of laughter, but he’s not immune to sadness.

This 14-year marriage between Kimmel and Gina Maddy terminated in 2002. Katherine was born in 1991, and their son Kevin followed in 1993. Sarah Silverman, who starred in the film Wreck-It Ralph and dated Kimmel from 2002 until 2009, continues to make guest appearances on Jimmy Kimmel Live!

On July 13, 2013, he tied the knot with Molly McNearney. They became parents to Jane in July 2014 and Billy in April 2017. Billy had to have surgery on his heart just three days after birth since he was born with a very unusual congenital cardiac condition. Due to the positive outcome of his surgery, Kimmel has become an advocate for expanding access to healthcare in the United States.

Jimmy Kimmel Early Life

New York native James Christian (“Jimmy”) Kimmel entered the world on November 13, 1967. When Kimmel was nine years old, he and his family relocated from Mill Basin to Las Vegas. He is the eldest of three children. He received an honorary degree from UNLV after graduating from Ed W. Clark High School, then spent a year at UNLV and two years at Arizona State University.

Jimmy Kimmel Radio Career

Because of David Letterman’s early success in radio, Kimmel got his own start in the industry while still in high school. While still in school, he pursued his interest in radio and eventually obtained his first paying position as a co-host of the morning show The Me and Him Show on Seattle’s KZOK-FM.

In 1990, he and his co-host Kent Voss were let go mostly because of the high production costs associated with the expensive stunts they performed on broadcast. Kimmel moved to Palm Springs, California to launch his own talk show and hired Carson Daly, a boyhood pal.  As “Jimmy the Sports Guy” on the Kevin and Bean morning show at Los Angeles’s KROQ-FM for five years, Jimmy’s career path finally led him to KROQ-FM.

Jimmy Kimmel Comedy Central

To begin with, Kimmel had little enthusiasm for a career in television. Later, he was asked to perform the on-air promotions himself after starting out creating promotional material for Fox broadcasters. After that, in 1997, Kimmel was invited to appear on Win Ben Stein’s Money on Comedy Central as the “funny everyman” counterpart to Ben Stein.
