Kansas Woman Dies in Fall at Glacier National Park in Montana

On Monday, May 23, 2023, a 28-year-old Kansas woman was swept into Avalanche Creek after falling from a rocky overhang. His appearance caused an uproar as onlookers saw him floating in the water under the Cedar Bridge. However, some onlookers took pity and waded into the river to save him.

As soon as the woman was removed, CPR was started and the mob informed rangers; From there, several citizens showed sympathy and dialed 911.

The call was initially received by Flathead County Dispatch, but was then transferred to Glacier National Park Dispatch. The NPS was notified of the incident and Alert and Three Rivers Ambulance.

Alert members on shore first spotted and later declared the woman dead. The woman was cremated and rangers took her remains to the Avalanche Lake Trailhead.

Glacier National Park staff appreciated the help from the Flathead County Sheriff’s Office, ALERT, and Three Rivers Ambulance. And also thanked those who came to help

This news comes as a shock after three deaths at the park within a week last July. A 79-year-old Florida man and two missing 67-year-old climbers were among the victims.

Staff at Glacier National Park, who was familiar with Kennedy and Beard, said in a statement that “they were considered expert climbers and have been summiting mountain peaks in the park for decades.”

Both men were well-known in the Flathead Valley community thanks to their status as long-time members of the Glacier Mountaineering Society.

Winslow Nichols, a 19-year-old climber, was reported dead by Peopel a month earlier.

Matthew Reed, a 19-year-old hiker, was found safe and sound two days after he went missing in Glacier National Park earlier this month.
