Luke’s funeral will be on Tuesday, April 25, 2023, at Abundant Life Church, 304 SW Persels Road, Lees Summit, MO 64081. From 9 AM to 11 AM, people will be able to pay their respects, and at 11 AM, there will be a funeral service.
Oak Ridge Memory Gardens is located at 18301 East Salisbury Road, Independence, Missouri 64056, and the graveside service will start there at 1:00 PM. Luke’s father, Johnny Kates, and mother, Barbara Kates; his wife, Karina Kates; and his children, Beckett Kates and Nova Kates are the only people who still care about him.
His brother Jacob and his wife Ashley Kates, his sister Lori and her husband Nate Babers, and their families will never forget him. Trey Kates, Mason Kates, Jonathan Babers, Zachary Babers, and Elijah Babers will always love him.
Luke’s brother Johnny Lee Kates Jr., his grandparents William Kates, Dorothy Kates, Claude Strutton, Lora Strutton, and Alvin and Margaret Cain, who raised him as their own, all died before him.
Menorah Hospital in Kansas City, Missouri, is where Luke entered the world. He grew up in the Missouri cities of Kansas City, Independence, and Oak Grove. He had his own business and was always in charge of it.
Luke was a passionate person who was always the center of attention at a party. Motorcycles, dirt bikes, softball, speed, golf, fishing, and a whole lot more were among his many interests. He loved his family and friends the most.

Luke was a kind son, brother, husband, father, friend, and family friend. His laugh would fill a room, and his smile would let you know he was always up to something. Luke was most important for being honest and accurate to the people in his group.
