Michigan Teen Arrested And Charged For Fatally Shooting His Mother And Her Boyfriend: A 19-year-old Michigan man shot and killed his mom and her boyfriend over the Labor Day holiday. The juvenile’s bond has been set at $1 million.
Demond Thomas Burgen Jr., the prime suspect, has been detained and charged with two charges of first-degree premeditated homicide and two counts of felony firearm, as reported by M Live.
The Wayne County Prosecutor’s Office identified the deceased as Burgen’s mom, Khalilah Elam, 45, from Harper Woods, and her boyfriend, Reginald Farmer Jr., 52, from Ypsilanti.
Over the weekend, Burgen appeared in 32A District Court for his arraignment. Next week, on Wednesday, September 14, at 1:30 p.m., he has a court date. On September 21 at 1:30 PM, there will be a preliminary exam.
According to reports, on Friday at around 1:08 p.m., Burgen allegedly fired several shots at his mother and her partner.
Reports in the media indicated that Harper Woods police officers had established a cordon around the residence after arriving at the site. The cops entered the residence and found Elam and Farmer in the upstairs bedroom, both wounded by the gunfire. Elam was confirmed dead at the hospital, while the farmer had already passed away.
When the police finally located Burgen, he was hiding in the basement. He was holding a gun to his head. The police were able to take the alleged killer into custody after questioning him. He was apparently spotted smiling and spitting in the face of one of the police officers as he was being removed.
