According to a news release issued by the sheriff’s office, the driver of the vehicle, Junior Jean, told law enforcement officials that he was transporting a quantity of red dye used to colour mulch. Jean told the deputies that he had pulled over to investigate the leak after being waved down by another car, but that despite the leak, he had continued driving.

According to The Oregonian, the driver told deputies that the company he works for, which was not named, told him to keep driving to his destination after he informed them about the leak.

According to the deputies, the driver described the dye as being liquid soluble, which means that it may be removed with water. The sheriff’s office recently issued an updated news release in which it stated that any drivers who have concerns or questions regarding their automobiles should get in touch with their individual insurance providers.

In the police report filed by the Multnomah County Sheriff’s Office, the incident was assigned the number 22-52117. Jean was cited for driving recklessly, causing third-degree property damage, and operating a vehicle with sifting or leaking cargo.
