Star Trek Picard season 3: Everything we know so far
(Towel-lint) – Star Trek: Picard will premiere on CBS All Access (now Paramount+) in 2020, and Patrick Stewart will reprise his role as Captain Picard. It’s only halfway through the second season, but Paramount has already released the cast for the third season. Season three of Picard is set to premiere in the fall, and here’s what we know so far.
Picard season 3: What to expect
Data’s death in Star Trek: Nemesis in 2002 (which Picard grapples with throughout the first season) and the destruction of Romulus in Star Trek: The Next Generation in 2009 figured prominently in the first season of Star Trek: Picard (which was used to introduce the synthetic humans that helped prevent the rescue of Romulan refugees and ultimately set the stage for Picard to resign from Star Fleet). Picard is compelled to help the synths because of two identical synthetic twins who are related to Picard’s former friend Data.
At the end of season one, Picard discovers the home of Data’s original creator and becomes a synthetic in order to save himself.
To recap, Picard and the crew of the La Sirena are now on their way to whatever new adventure awaits aboard the ship. First, Picard and some of his old friends from Star Trek: The Next Generation (such as Seven of Nine and Raffi Musiker) are transported to the year 2024. It’s up to Captain Picard and his crew to figure out what Q (John De Lancie) has done to alter the timeline so that the Confederation of Earth, a xenophobic version of Starfleet, is now out to wipe out all alien life.
Even though the season hasn’t ended yet, it’s safe to say that Paramount+ has no intention of letting Jean Luc Picard finally enjoy his retirement.
His old Star Trek: The Next Generation gear is seen in the new season three teaser, and then we see him standing side by side with Riker (Jonathan Frakes), pointing phasers at someone. The teaser also promises more returning characters, such as Brent Spinner as Data and Levar Burton as Geordi La Forge, for the upcoming season three.
