Resident Evil 4 Remake Trailer May Have Just Spoiled a Major Plot Twist
Recent footage from the remake of Resident Evil 4 has revealed major plot details. When adapting the original Resident Evil games for the remake treatment, the developers have a tendency to alter specific details while keeping the games’ overarching themes and structures largely unchanged.
For instance, rather than meeting at the outbreak location, Leon and Claire in Resident Evil 2 Remake have a brief new playable segment of the game where they meet at a gas station on the Raccoon City boundaries. The next RE4 remake is said to feature numerous incremental improvements.
Luis Sera, a minor character in the first game, has been revamped. When he was a part of Los Illuminados, biological researcher Luis helped Osmund Saddler. But when Luis learned that Saddler was spreading Las Plagas among the villagers, he abandoned the group turned cult.
In RE4, the protagonist, Leon, encounters the game’s Latino antagonist, Luis, and the two forge a tentative alliance, bonding as they fight their way out of the cabin and away from the hordes of infected. Luis doesn’t have a very long life expectancy. In Part 3 of Chapter 3, Saddler stabs him to death with one of his deformed tentacles. But, if RE4 is remade, Luis’s fate could be altered.

Resident Evil 4, Luis Sera Has a Longer Lifespan
In the latest teaser for the remake of Resident Evil 4, we see Luis surviving past the point when he would have died and traveling with Leon into the game’s later stages. You can observe him fending off infected miners and assisting Leon in his battle against two El Gigantes while you’re down in the mineshaft.
In addition to the mining cart segment, Luis appears frequently throughout this time period. The trailer spends nearly half its time on Luis’ laid-back persona, a stark contrast to Leon’s more mature image, presumably developing him as a very important character, suggesting that RE4 Remake will use this chapter to further strengthen our connection to Luis.
Resident Evil 4 Remake May See Jack Krauser Kill Luis Sera
That bridge needs to be built if the new death scene for Luis in RE4 Remake is going to be any more traumatic than the original. A knife protrudes from a body in the trailer’s foreground shortly before Leon is assaulted by Jack Krauser, suggesting this may be the case.
It’s a brown jacket and gray slacks, just like Luis’s, when the image is brightened. Luis’s death here would make sense in light of the new gameplay footage, however, this is by no means confirmed.
The most notable alterations to the RE4 trailer are the introduction of the knife and Krauser’s subsequent appearance. From this, it appears that Krauser, and not Saddler, was responsible for Luis’s murder. In the original RE4, Leon and Krauser fought in a quick-time event cutscene, but the teaser for the remake suggests that they will have a full-fledged battle.
If Krauser were to kill Luis just before this battle, it would hit closer to home for Leon, and the player would care more because of how much time they had spent with Luis.
It’s possible that Capcom included these shots of Luis’ anatomy to fool fans, but at this point, it’s just speculation. It’s more likely that the RE4 Remake team has concluded that the rivalry between Leon and Krauser is more interesting to explore than Saddler’s menacing presence.
It will be intriguing to watch how Capcom handles Saddler’s arrival in this updated Resident Evil plot if he does not kill Luis. This alteration to Luis’s fate will certainly have knock-on effects throughout Resident Evil 4 Remake.
