Stranger Things Season 5: Release Date, Cast, Plot, and Trailer!

Stranger Things Season 5: Stranger Things season five is coming to Netflix, but not any time soon, giving you time to recover from the events of season four. To be fair, they totally warned us. But we think it’s going to take a while for us to recover.

The stage has now been set for the gang to have one final showdown to save Hawkins and the world. Can they really close the door on the Upside Down for good and learn to live normal lives?

With Stranger Things season five confirmed to be the final season by creators the Duffer brothers, there is certainly a hell of a lot of ground to cover.

Stranger Things Season 5 Release Date

Given that the series’ writers have only recently started writing, there is no set debut date for season 5. There were three years in between the release of seasons 3 and 4, but the pandemic contributed to scheduling and production delays. Hopefully, we won’t have to wait that long, but it’s likely we won’t see Stranger Things 5 until 2023 or 2024.

Fear not, those who are concerned that the series will be released weekly on Netflix. On June 7, Peter Friedlander, Netflix’s head of scripted series for the United States and Canada, confirmed to Variety that the final season will be released all at once, as with previous seasons.

Stranger Things Season 5 Plot

Expect a tearjerker – according to the Duffers, the pitch alone caused Netflix executives to cry about the show’s end.

“We do have an outline for season five, which we pitched to Netflix, and they responded very well to it,” Matt Duffer told The Wrap. “I mean, it was difficult. The story has come to an end. It was surreal to see executives cry who I’d never seen cry before.”

Let’s hope this means the stakes will be higher the next time. Because, while a couple of characters did die by the end of season four (and were almost certainly added in solely to be killed off), it’s strange that all of the major players have survived this far.

Even Max, who did die briefly, made a surprise return at the very end, undermining the power of her supposed death with some cowardly backtracking. As much as we adored Sadie Sink’s performance in season four, decisions like these deprive the show of much-needed tension. This, however, could pave the way for an even more upsetting story arc for Max in the future.

Based on what we’ve seen of her, she may suffer a fate worse than death: she may forget who she is, who her friends are, and what life was like before her heroic efforts to stop Vecna. It’s also possible that she’s going blind and will have a long recovery because every bone in her body was broken.

“I’m not sure where we’re going or what Max’s condition is,” she admitted to Entertainment Weekly. “Everything is definitely up in the air right now.” Although it appears that the actress is just as out of the loop as we are, she went on to say that she is excited to see how Max will fare when season five arrives. “I’m as eager as everyone else to learn where Max is and how she’s doing,” she added.
