Survivor Season 44 News
In June 2019, a group of former contestants from the reality television show Black Survivor gathered to discuss their time on the show and the challenges they faced as members of a minority.
Recent events surrounding the Black Lives Matter movement, as well as discussions about anti-racist practices, inspired them to act. They call themselves the “Soul Survivors Organization,” and they are made up of contestants from seasons 1 through 40.
They have circulated a petition in which they demand that the show implement several anti-racist initiatives. These initiatives include casting at least 30% BIPOC in each cast, hiring more BIPOC as crew members, and actively supporting the cast, including providing mental health resources after the season.
“In response to the petition, Jeff Probst stated that “the entire culture is in a magnificent upheaval,” and that “our responsibility is to respond to it in order to ensure that Survivor continues to reflect our culture, our behavior, and how we connect with each other.” Everything that is happening right now will have an impact on Survivor’s future.”
As a direct result of the campaign, CBS announced in November 2020 that it would be implementing new standards for its unscripted programming with the goal of increasing diversity.
This includes requiring at least 50% of each show’s cast to be Black, Indigenous, and People of Color (BIPOC), as well as allocating at least 25% of its annual unscripted development budget to projects created or co-created by BIPOC producers. Furthermore, there will be a requirement that at least one host be Black, Indigenous, or People of Color.
Is Survivor On Netflix?
Unfortunately, Survivor episodes will no longer be available on Netflix as of November 14, 2022. Over the previous three years, the online streaming behemoth made two seasons of the show available at any given time.
Heroes vs. Villains, Cagayan, and Micronesia, as well as David vs. Goliath, were among the seasons featured. As a result of this accessibility, the programme was able to attract new viewers throughout the pandemic, some of whom went on to participate in the game.
How Many Survivor Seasons Are There?
