Bodies of two missing men in Massachusetts were discovered in the storage unit; the suspect was arrested. Last week, two men reported missing from Medford, Massachusetts, were located safe and sound at a storage facility. Authorities have confirmed the arrest of a suspect.
The bodies of Kiryl Schukin, 37, and Pavel Vekshin, 28, were discovered early Saturday morning at a storage unit in Brighton, Massachusetts, according to a press statement from the Middlesex County District Attorney’s office. Both victims died from stab wounds.
Leonid Volkov, 37, was taken into custody as a result. The district attorney’s office claimed that Volkov knew both suspects. On Friday, police raided a storage facility in Brighton following a search warrant. The district attorney’s office claims the defendant rented the apartment in the name of one of the victims.
Once inside, investigators found Schukin and Vekshin’s bodies in rubber totes. It has been said that Schukin was dismembered. The district attorney’s office reported that investigators located bleach, rubber gloves, and other items belonging to the victims.
Medford Police Department Chief Buckley said in a statement on Facebook:
“In this particular case where the subjects are known to each other and we have the suspect in custody, we strongly believe there is no danger to the community,”
According to WFXT, the Chief Medical Examiner determined that Schukin and Vekshin died from homicide. You may have a look at the Facebook post by Medford Police Department.
During the investigation, it was discovered that Schukin had signed as a guarantor on Volkov’s apartment lease. The news source claims that Volkov was evicted because he refused to remain his guarantor when he asked for a lease extension.
The authorities think Volkov and Schukin got together on March 29 to rent a moving truck. WFXT reported that a U-Haul containing Schukin’s and Vekhin’s belongings was discovered in the storage facility. The authorities think Volkov drove the U-Haul truck from the apartment to the storage facility where the victims were found.
