In the end, authorities determined that the student had indeed passed away.

There has been no immediate word about the death’s cause. After the untimely death, investigations were opened by the police in Two Rivers and the Manitowoc County Coroners’ Office. Investigators with the Two Rivers Police Department finally called off their probes into the drowning tragedy a few months later.

The official report from the Manitowoc County Coroner’s office states that the cause of death was drowning and that the reason for death was an accident. Assistant Chief Ben Meinert of the Two Rivers Police Department told the department that after consulting with the Manitowoc County District Attorney’s office, they had “concluded the investigation and determined there was no evidence to establish criminal charges.” This was a horrible accident and our sympathies are with the family of the deceased and the whole TRHS community, Assistant Chief Meinnert stated.
