Who is Sarada’s Mother?
In the first episodes of the Boruto series, Sarada comes across a picture of Taka, a team created by Sasuke during his search for Itachi Uchiha. She convinces him to run a DNA test on the umbilical cord he believes belongs to Karin. Sarada’s fears are realized as the results are positive.

Sakura explicitly confirms her motherhood to Sarada after being released from captivity. Sasuke goes on to say that Sarada’s very existence is proof of his connection to Sakura. This is followed by a tender moment between Sasuke and Sakura, during which Sasuke peeks his brow as he walks away. The act of touching her forehead expresses Sasuke’s feelings for her. As he recalls his brother Itachi performing the same act on him. Although it has been verbally confirmed that Sasuke and Sakura are her parents, Sarada believes that this is sufficient.

But how is this possible when Karin’s DNA test on the umbilical cord confirmed the DNA match? In reality, as Karin explained to Sarada in the manga, the umbilical cord she thought belonged to Karin was actually Sakura’s.
She also contextualizes this by mentioning that she and Sakura were on their way to find Sasuke when Sakura gave birth halfway through. Karin was simply the midwife who delivered Sarada.
